This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the Soma-based expressive arts therapy program on the daily creativity of university students majoring in modern dance. The study targeted university students majoring in modern dance and verified the changes according to participation and pre- and post-tests between groups. Among the modern dance majors at D Women's University, 8 experimental group and 8 control group were selected as participants. The experimental group completed the program once a week for 16 sessions of 120 minutes each. After that, they were administered pre- and post-tests using the everyday creativity test by Jeong Eun-i (2002). The data were analyzed using independent t-test and dependent t-test using SPSS/WIN 18.0. As a result of the study, first, the experimental group showed statistically significant differences in alternative problem-solving ability, relational openness, exploratory immersion, creative flexibility, and pursuit of adventurous freedom. Second, the control group showed no statistically significant differences in any factor. Based on the research results, it was confirmed that the daily creativity enhancement program utilizing Soma-based expressive arts therapy was an effective program in enhancing the participants' ability to explore the basis of creation from within and discover original methods of expression.

This study is an exploratory analysis of research trends in culture and arts education in Korea, aiming to suggest future directions in response to the digital era. Academic papers published in KCI-indexed journals between 2015 and 2024 were collected and analyzed by year, journal, and subject area. Based on keyword clustering, the studies were categorized into four major themes: (1) educational methods and methodologies, (2) technology and digital environments, (3) art genres and content, and (4) competencies and literacy. The findings suggest the following key directions: First, the need to revitalize research on culture and arts education in digital contexts; second, to expand interdisciplinary and convergent studies; third, to enhance the educational use of digital technologies; and finally, to promote multifaceted approaches and strengthen digital capabilities. Moving forward, research should go beyond the digitalization of educational methods and content to focus on increasing accessibility, sustainability, and learner-centered competence and literacy through the development and application of digital-based educational programs.

This study aims to explore the educational meaning of digital media-based art play as experienced by pre-service early childhood teachers. To this end, a digital media-integrated art play course was conducted over eight weeks with 39 students enrolled in the advanced major course on ‘Creative Art Education’ in the Department of Early Childhood Education at a university located in the Seoul metropolitan area. Reflective journals and project outcomes were collected and qualitatively analyzed. Through open coding, meaningful units were identified, and core themes were derived by integrating and categorizing similar concepts. The analysis revealed that participants experienced: (1) the reduction of psychological distance from digital media and the development of confidence, (2) recognition of creative expression and immersive engagement, (3) awareness of the potential for integration between art and digital media, and (4) a shift in their willingness to apply digital tools in educational settings. These findings suggest that engaging in digital media-based art play contributes effectively to the enhancement of digital receptivity, integrative thinking, and creative instructional design competencies in pre-service early childhood teachers. This study offers practical implications for designing digital convergence curricula tailored to teacher preparation programs in early childhood education.

The purpose of this study is to understand the essence of the meaning of local and entrepreneurship experienced by young people through startup. To this end, 10 young entrepreneurship experiencers in Y City, which is classified as a region in danger of population extinction, were selected as informants, and semi-structured interviews data were collected and categorized. As a result of the study, the essential themes of entrepreneurship experience were derived as understanding of the environment, limitations of the local, solidarity, and hope. The meaning experienced by local young entrepreneurs was first confirmed as a process in which young people with low self-esteem grow as entrepreneurs. Second, from a market perspective, based on the changed perception of the local, while experiencing business limitations, implications for the current youth entrepreneurship policy were suggested. Third, the necessary operational methods were suggested to activate local youth entrepreneurship based on understanding and solidarity.

This study analyzes technical and artistic challenges and structural limitations of collaboration between artificial intelligence (AI) and orchestras, focusing on musicians’ experiences. Based on case studies of performances by the Gimpo Philharmonic Orchestra and Gunpo Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, this research uses on-site observations and in-depth interviews with participants, including musicians, to examine specific constraints in technological implementation, difficulties in emotional expression, and the structural limitations restricting artists' creative interventions. Findings reveal that current collaborative frameworks structurally limit artists' ability to express interpretations and emotions effectively, highlighting the ongoing gap between technology and art identified in C.P. Snow’s "Two Cultures" theory. Consequently, the study underscores the necessity for designing artist-centered collaborative structures and establishing appropriate technological and institutional foundations to enhance musicians' creativity and to make AI-integrated orchestral performances a sustainable artistic practice. Finally, this study proposes practical directions for reconstructing collaborative frameworks, suggesting the possibility of a novel technological-artistic collaboration model that respects and fosters artistic creativity.

This qualitative study explored the educational implications of a Problem Based Learning (PBL) based Dance Education Course for pre service physical education teachers. A total of 24 undergraduate students majoring in physical education at a university in the Seoul metropolitan area participated in the study. Data were collected immediately after the course through seven open ended, written response questions and analyzed using inductive content analysis. The results revealed five major educational outcomes: enhancement of self directed learning, expansion of expressive and creative competencies, development of collaboration and communication skills, emotional growth through reflective practice and the broadening of digital literacy. The integration of dance a performance centered activity and the PBL approach provided participants with meaningful experiences in lesson planning, creative problem solving and identity formation as future educators. These experiences enabled students to move beyond technical skill acquisition and begin to develop as autonomous and reflective practitioners capable of designing and implementing their own lessons. The study offers practical implications for curriculum development in physical education, particularly in the teaching and learning of expressive activities and the professional preparation of pre service teachers.

This study presents a case of community-engaged mobile performing arts jointly conducted by a regional university and local institutions in H Province, K-do, South Korea. Focusing on the planning and implementation of the music-reading theater Eternal Friends - Zelkova Tree Wind, the study qualitatively analyzes the emotional, educational, and social effects of performing arts in the context of community-based cultural welfare. The performance toured 11 sites―including silver colleges, nursing homes, day care centers, and facilities for people with developmental disabilities―from May to November 2023, utilizing a mobile stage system. Faculty and students from the Department of Acting at S University participated in all aspects of the performance production. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected from 12 participants―including performance staff, beneficiaries, and welfare practitioners― through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, field records, and planning notes. The data were analyzed using Spradley’s domain analysis. The results revealed the following: First, the performance employed autobiographical narrative structures and familiar musical elements, allowing elderly audiences to emotionally immerse themselves and recall personal memories. Second, the performance functioned as a space for emotional release and psychological comfort not only for elderly and disabled audiences but also for welfare professionals. Third, participating students internalized their identities as artists and civic actors and experienced the public value of arts education. Fourth, the viability of the mobile stage system and the flexibility of localized performance planning were confirmed, positioning the project as a practical model for reducing regional cultural disparities. This study presents a community-based public art model that integrates performing arts, cultural welfare, and arts education, offering implications for future cultural policy development and the expanded social responsibility of regional universities.

This study examines the influence of ballet instructors’ Online Communication Competence (OCC) on their job satisfaction and perceived teaching outcomes in virtual learning environments. As digital transformation continues to reshape educational settings, the use of online platforms and digital tools has become widespread. However, maintaining effective interaction remains a notable challenge in practice-based dance instruction. To address this, the present study conceptualizes OCC through four key dimensions: digital tool utilization, interaction facilitation, nonverbal communication delivery, and instructional clarity. A nationwide survey was conducted among ballet instructors affiliated with universities, private dance academies, cultural institutions, and freelance programs. Based on the collected responses, multiple regression analyses were performed. The results showed that all four dimensions of OCC had statistically significant positive effects on both job satisfaction and perceived teaching outcomes. Notably, digital tool utilization and interaction facilitation emerged as the most influential predictors. These findings indicate that OCC plays a critical role in enhancing instructors’ experiences and instructional effectiveness in remote ballet education. Accordingly, the implementation of structured training programs to develop ballet instructors' digital communication capabilities is strongly recommended.

This study aimed to investigate the parenting stress levels of working mothers and their current use of music in daily life, as well as to examine their perceptions of music as a tool for managing parenting stress. An online survey was conducted through a community platform targeting working mothers, and responses from a total of 117 participants were analyzed. The results showed that parenting stress among working mothers was above average. In terms of music use, participants primarily listened to their preferred music using smart devices while commuting, mainly for mood regulation. When examining music use based on emotional states, music listening was common both when participants felt happy and when they felt depressed, whereas singing and playing instruments were more frequently reported when participants felt happy. Furthermore, the group with higher parenting stress showed a significantly greater recognition of music as a stress management tool compared to the group with lower stress. Regarding the purpose of music use, those with higher stress primarily used music for stress relief, while those with lower stress used it mainly for self-care, indicating a significant difference between the groups. This study provides foundational data for developing music-based programs aimed at managing parenting stress among working mothers by exploring their patterns of music use and related perceptions.

This study analyzed the impact of Korean traditional dance instructors’ creative competencies on job satisfaction and job engagement, based on the Componential Theory of Creativity. Creative competencies were composed of four sub-factors: expertise, creative thinking, intrinsic motivation, and flexibility. Job satisfaction was divided into intrinsic and extrinsic satisfaction, while job engagement was categorized into behavioral engagement and emotional engagement. This theory emphasizes the importance of intrinsic motivation, individual expertise, and environmental factors in the manifestation of creativity. Guided by this framework, the study explored the relationships between creative competencies, job satisfaction, and job engagement. A survey was conducted nationwide among Korean traditional dance instructors, and the collected data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analyses. Results indicated that creative competencies had a positive effect on all sub-factors of job satisfaction and job engagement. Notably, creative thinking and intrinsic motivation strongly influenced intrinsic satisfaction and behavioral engagement, while extrinsic satisfaction also showed a significant positive correlation with creative competencies. The positive impact of creative competencies on emotional engagement was closely related to the development of emotional attachment to the organization. This study suggests that fostering creativity among instructors in dance education significantly contributes to their job attitudes. Therefore, institutional support for developing creative competencies in Korean traditional dance instructors is necessary. Creativity-centered teaching methods, workshops, and mentoring programs can serve as effective strategies to enhance job satisfaction and engagement. The findings of this study empirically demonstrate the organizational value of creativity in the fields of dance studies and arts education.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of the Seoul Marathon’s brand personality on the revisit intention of Chinese tourists, focusing on how various brand personality dimensions, in the context of marathon event branding, affect tourists’ behavioral intentions. An empirical analysis was conducted using data from 295 valid responses collected from Chinese tourists who visited Korea to participate in the 2024 Seoul Marathon. Exploratory factor analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were employed to examine the effects of five brand personality dimensions―benevolence, wisdom, courage, vibrancy, and elegance ―on revisit intention. The results showed that elegance, wisdom, and vibrancy had statistically significant positive effects on revisit intention, while benevolence and courage did not. Among them, vibrancy was perceived as the most representative trait of the Seoul Marathon, with descriptors such as “youthful,” “professional,” and “rich cultural background” receiving strong resonance. These findings expand the theoretical application of brand personality to the context of mega sports events, particularly within East Asian cultural settings, and offer practical implications for developing brand strategies and marketing efforts targeting Chinese tourists.

This study aims to establish a theoretical foundation for health consciousness to promote exercise behavior and to derive practical implications based on this framework. Health consciousness was approached as an integrated concept that goes beyond mere awareness, encompassing value recognition of health, personal responsibility, sensitivity to health information, and motivation for self-management. Through theoretical exploration and conceptual clarification, the study confirms that health consciousness plays a critical role in the recognition, decision-making, and implementation processes of various health behavior changes, including exercise. In particular, the integrated health consciousness scale and its identified factors proposed in this study are applicable not only to exercise but also to a broad range of lifestyle habits such as dietary management, stress control, and regular health check-ups. These findings suggest that the scale can serve as a useful tool for designing tailored intervention programs aimed at overall health promotion. The study highlights the importance of viewing health consciousness not merely as a determinant of exercise intention, but as a broader awareness that underpins comprehensive health management in daily life.

This study investigates how absorptive capacity (ACAP) impacts business performance in fitness centers and examines the moderating effect of employee-customer interaction. Analyzing 163 survey responses from South Korean fitness employees, regression analysis reveals ACAP’s significant positive effect on performance (β = 0.595, p < 0.001). Employee-customer interaction strengthens this relationship (β = 0.153, p < 0.05), strengthening it when ACAP is high (β = 0.787, p < 0.001). These findings highlight the importance of robust knowledge management systems and interaction strategies to leverage external knowledge effectively. Limitations include geographic focus and cross-sectional data. The study extends absorptive capacity theory to service industries, offering actionable insights for enhancing competitiveness through knowledge integration and customer engagement.

This study explored the process by which an instructor in a liberal arts leisure sports course applied and refined teaching methods through the concept of “Noting,” utilizing an autoethnographic approach. The researcher, serving concurrently as the instructor, engaged in reflective analysis of their own teaching experiences, focusing on instructional strategies, interactions with students, and the evolution of pedagogical practices throughout the course. Data were collected through teaching journals, reflective notes, and student feedback, and were qualitatively analyzed to uncover meaningful insights into pedagogical development. The findings suggest that an instructional approach emphasizing “Noting” deepens students’ engagement with sports experiences and enhances their capacity for self-reflection. In particular, when instructors emphasize bodily awareness, facilitate reflective discussions, utilize visual feedback, and create an open learning environment, students are more likely to engage actively and autonomously in their learning processes. Simultaneously, the instructor was able to continuously reflect on and adjust their teaching methods, demonstrating the value of self-reflective practice in the implementation of learner-centered pedagogy. This study offers foundational insights for improving instructional strategies in experiential learning environments and highlights the potential of “Noting” as a pedagogical tool for fostering meaningful student engagement and self-awareness.

The purpose of this study is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the characteristics and value of equestrian education and to provide foundational data for the development of an equestrian education model. Using the keyword “equine education”, online news and blog data from January 2020 to April 2025 were collected and refined via the TEXTOM platform. Through text mining and semantic network analysis, key terms were identified, followed by TF-IDF weighting, degree centrality, and CONCOR clustering to derive meaningful insights. The analysis revealed four primary types of equestrian education: (1) equestrian experience programs linked to tourism, (2) educational programs at private riding facilities, (3) school-based equestrian education programs, and (4) elite equestrian training through competitions. Considering the characteristics and limitations of each type, it is suggested that the activation of equestrian education requires the simultaneous advancement of systematic program development, regional infrastructure expansion, strengthening of educational linkages, and the enhancement of the industrial foundation.

This study analyzed domestic academic papers on ‘sports science’ published in Korean in the past 10 years using big data analysis in a non-quantitative manner, and through this, it aimed to comprehensively explore the main research topics and content composition of the topics mainly studied under the keyword ‘sports science’. The analysis method utilized the Korea Education and Research Information Service (RISS) to select 5,283 domestic academic papers including KCI-listed journals as analysis subjects, focusing on keywords such as ‘sports science’ and ‘exercise science’. The research results are as follows. First, the research topics centered on ‘sports science’ in the past 10 years were not limited to verifying the physiological efficacy of exercise, but actively expanded to include health indicator-centered research, university students and adolescents, and topics related to emotion and psychology. In addition, in terms of content composition, multidisciplinary convergence is being strengthened, including psychological, social, and educational aspects beyond the physiological approach, such as school physical education and elite physical education, recreational physical education and health welfare, exercise for women, and psychological and social health and rehabilitation. Finally, in terms of the direction of research, clusters of seven specialized areas are formed, and interest and support for these specialized areas seem necessary. Therefore, in order to develop ‘sports science’ in the future, it is necessary to reflect the three trends above, reorganize the interdisciplinary ‘sports science’ curriculum at universities, establish a policy-academia-field communication system to reflect the field, and finally, establish a development system such as cluster-specific specialized research support and researcher training.

This study aims to explore the impact of the viewing experience on the revisit intention of Chinese international students who watch K-League matches in South Korea. Specifically, it analyzes how four dimensions of viewing experience―sensory experience, emotional experience, behavioral experience, and cognitive experience―influence the intention of Chinese students to revisit K-League matches. Based on this analysis, the study provides practical implications for event organizers to optimize the viewing experience and enhance international spectators’ intention to revisit. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect valid data from a total of 278 Chinese students residing in South Korea. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0. To assess the reliability and validity of the measurement, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed using AMOS 24.0. Subsequently, multiple regression analysis was employed to examine the effects of the four dimensions of viewing experience on revisit intention. The results indicate that sensory experience, emotional experience, and behavioral experience have a significant positive effect on revisit intention. In contrast, cognitive experience does not show a statistically significant influence on revisit intention. These findings suggest that event organizers should focus on strategies such as optimizing the atmosphere of the venue, enhancing audience interaction, and strengthening emotional connections to increase spectator satisfaction and loyalty. Moreover, considering the insignificant effect of cognitive experience on revisit intention, it is recommended that more attention be directed toward the other dimensions of viewing experience to effectively attract international audiences and promote the sustainable development of the K-League.

The purpose of this study was to provide useful data for designing a solution-focused counseling/psychological skills training program suitable for athletes by reviewing previous studies on solution-focused counseling. The solution-focused short-term counseling model focused on solving problems rather than focusing on the problems faced by clients, and was also different from traditional psychological skills training that focused on complex psychological skills and provides long-term interventions rather than solving the priority problems that athletes complained about. In this study, this study reviewed previous studies on solution-focused counseling/psychological intervention to explore the basis for the necessity of solution-focused counseling/psychological intervention for athletes. In addition, this study presented a solution-focused counseling/psychological intervention model useful for athletes and teams by reviewing solution-focused counseling/psychological intervention programs applied to athletes. Finally, this study proposed various research directions on solution-focused counseling/psychological intervention models that helped improve athletes’ psychological skills and performance.

Based on social cognitive theory, this study explored the influencing factors of exercise sustainability from the perspective of consumers. The communication methods of cycling coaches were expanded to include verbal communication and nonverbal communication as independent variables, and the moderating role of fun was emphasized. Results indicated that both verbal communication(β = .277, p < .001) and nonverbal communication (β = .275, p < .001) significantly enhanced exercise sustainability. Fun exhibited a moderating effect only in the relationship between verbal communication and exercise sustainability (β = 1.287, p < .05), with stronger effects observed in high-fun environments. However, no significant moderating effect of fun was found for nonverbal communication. Based on these findings, spinning instructors should adjust their communication strategies according to the level of fun in the class: in high-fun settings, prioritize clear, goal-oriented verbal communication―such as encouragement, feedback, and precise instructions―to strengthen participants’ intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy; in lower-fun environments, consider enhancing engagement through nonverbal communication like body language, facial expressions, and atmosphere creation.

The experience of wearing traditional attire has recently emerged as an innovative strategy in cultural tourism marketing and has become a subject of active academic research. Since the implementation of the free admission policy for visitors wearing Hanbok at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul in 2013, the rental rate of Hanbok among foreign tourists has increased. Similarly, the Hanfu revival movement in China since 2018 has established traditional costume experiences as a key cultural tourism strategy. This study examines the differences in experiential marketing elements (sense, feel, think, act, and relate experiences) based on Hanfu participation among visitors to Tang Paradise, a prominent historical and cultural theme park in Xi'an, China. A survey was conducted among Hanfu participants and non-participants, and an independent sample t-test was performed to analyze the differences between the two groups. The results indicated that Hanfu participants scored significantly higher in feel, think, act, and relate experiences compared to non-participants. Notably, the greatest difference was observed in relate experiences, suggesting that Hanfu experiences enhance visitors' emotional engagement and social interactions. This study empirically demonstrates that traditional costume experiences play a crucial role in improving visitor’s experience level in historical and cultural theme parks, highlighting the importance of immersive cultural content development for tourism operators.
