This study aims to assess the current status of digital performance ephemera that fail to function adequately as cultural archival resources. It analyzes their information quality, identifies underlying causes, and proposes practical improvement strategies. To achieve this objective, the study employed analytical approaches to examine 188 vocal solo performances registered on the Korea Performing Arts Information System (KOPIS), the nation's representative performance information platform, from May 2024 to April 2025. The information quality was quantitatively assessed using three key indicators: usefulness, consistency, and accuracy. The analytical results revealed limitations across all three indicators, indicating that performance information remains confined to promotional purposes and fails to transform into meaningful cultural resources. Based on these findings, the study proposes four practical strategies grounded in responsible participation by information providers: participatory-based data collection, parallel textual notation, terminology standardization, and information synchronization. This research emphasizes that for performance ephemera to serve effectively as cultural archives in digital environments, mere technological improvements are insufficient; instead, enhanced awareness among data contributors and the systematic implementation of practical strategies must be pursued in parallel.

This study aims to explore the contemporary utilization of Arirang, focusing on the < Connecting the World with Arirang > performance. At a time when it is essential to investigate the source of Arirang’s enduring power―so long a solace for the Korean people’s pain―and to seek ways to sustain its vitality in the future global context, regional initiatives are actively underway. The < Connecting the World with Arirang > performance, organized by Korea’s three major Arirang cooperative municipalities under the theme “Arirang Diaspora, Arirang Road,” serves to disseminate and share the unique sentiments and culture of Korea, both domestically and internationally. This study positions the structure and direction of the performance as its analytical focus, examining how intangible cultural heritage such as Arirang is contemporarily utilized and recontextualized in modern society. Specifically, it analyzes the production methods and content organization principles apparent in the current utilization of Arirang performances to elucidate the meaning of its artistic elements and cultural signifiers. Furthermore, the study proposes a theoretical framework for understanding how traditional cultural heritage is recreated and expanded in contemporary creative processes, seeking new methodological approaches for the creative succession and development of historical content.

The purpose of this study was to explore parents’ perceptions and needs regarding their experiences in art-play-based parent education. To this end, five parents with children aged 5 to 7, who participated in the program Let’s Play with Art!, a component of the Parents’ Happiness Classroom project organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, were selected as research participants. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth individual interviews conducted after the completion of the program, and the collected data were analyzed using open coding. The findings were as follows. First, parents expanded their imagination and recognized the potential to practice art-play in everyday life through their participation in art-play-based parent education. Second, by observing their children’s expressions and responses, parents deepened their understanding of their children and redefined their parental role in play. Third, they newly recognized the educational value of play and experienced art-play as an effective educational medium. Fourth, they evaluated the program positively and expressed demands for home-linked activities and the inclusion of diverse thematic extensions.

This study aims to develop a TPO (Teaching-Process-Output)-based art education model grounded in constructivism and theories of creativity development, in order to foster the core competencies emphasized in the 2022 revised national curriculum―particularly creative problem-solving and self-directed learning. Through a review of relevant literature, this study diagnoses the paradigm shift in art education as well as the gap between the curriculum and its classroom implementation, and further analyzes the structural limitations of existing instructional cases. Based on these theoretical insights, the TPO model was specified into three phases―Teaching, Process, and Output―and a framework was established that systematically connects instructional activities, teaching strategies, and creative competencies within each phase. The model integrates the core principles of constructivist learning―exploration and collaboration―with fluency, elaboration, and flexibility from creativity development theory, thereby enabling learners to independently identify problems, express them visually, and reflect on the outcomes within a creativity-centered instructional structure. Additionally, by presenting unit-specific application strategies and assessment indicators for creative competencies, the model enhances its practical applicability in educational settings. This research provides both a theoretical and practical foundation for implementing creativity-oriented art education, which aligns with the direction contemporary art education should pursue.

This study explores the potential for a sustainable operational model to institutionalize large-scale outdoor performances, focusing on the case of water-based pyrotheatre. As a convergence-based performing art that combines fireworks and water-stage objects, water-based pyrotheatre is emerging as a new genre that satisfies the viewing demands of multinational audiences and various generations through visual spectacle and nonverbal narratives. This paper analyzes the artistic completeness, audience response, and revenue structure of Universe on Lake, a representative domestic example, and derives the feasibility and challenges of institutionalization through a comparative analysis of domestic and international cases. The research findings indicate four core conditions for the institutionalization of water-based pyrotheatre: (1) improving public perception of paid outdoor performances and fostering value-based consumption culture, (2) producing high-quality content with strong narrative and artistic value, (3) expanding nighttime tourism infrastructure and urban cultural foundations centered around performance venues, and (4) establishing a sustainable cooperative platform among performance organizations, local governments, and private enterprises. In particular, to ensure continuity and profitability, it is necessary to go beyond artistic creation and integrate with tourism resources while securing long-term administrative and policy support systems. This study is meaningful in that it presents practical and policy-oriented strategies for developing water-based pyrotheatre―and large-scale outdoor performances more broadly―into a new genre of cultural art and a high value-added content that promotes local cultural industries and revitalizes nighttime tourism.

This study aims to understand how symbolic meanings of luxury products and the internalisation of self-identity are shaped through consumption rituals in the luxury consumption process. To this end, a theoretical framework was constructed based on McCracken’s (1986) Meaning Transfer Model, focusing on exchange rituals, possession rituals, grooming rituals, and divestment rituals. A qualitative research method was employed, using semi-structured interviews with eight consumers who had experience purchasing Chanel products and had shared related content on social media. The collected data were analysed through the lens of the four types of consumption rituals, with particular attention to the construction of cultural meaning. The results reveal that, in exchange rituals, gift-givers actively reinterpreted the core values of the Chanel brand within relational contexts, using the products as a medium for transferring symbolic capital and conveying emotions. In possession rituals, a process of personalisation was observed, in which practices such as unboxing, storing, and sharing on social media helped integrate the product into the consumer’s extended self. Grooming rituals showed that wearing Chanel items served as a strategic tool for enhancing inner confidence and performing social identity. In divestment rituals, the emotional separation from the product symbolised personal transformation and enabled the creation of circular value. These findings suggest that luxury consumption functions not as mere material acquisition, but as a cultural practice through which consumers actively reconstruct brand meanings and integrate them into their personal identity.

This study examines the relationship between the Net Promoter Score (NPS) and customer outcomes (satisfaction, loyalty, and revisit intention) among audiences of regional cultural foundation programs. Based on a survey of 533 participants in Chungbuk Cultural Foundation’s arts support projects, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for analysis. Results show that NPS has a significant positive effect on all customer outcome variables. Key influencing factors on NPS included information accessibility, content quality, and service satisfaction. The findings highlight the value of NPS as a performance metric for cultural policies and suggest its usefulness in experience-based evaluation. This study provides practical insights for customer-centered improvements in local cultural programs.

Modern society recognizes games as a major medium for cultural transmission, and the integration of traditional cultural elements is gaining attention as a strategy to enhance the depth of content and strengthen brand competitiveness. This study took Black Myth: Wukong as a case to analyze the influence of traditional cultural elements within the game (sound, graphics, characters) on Generation Z’s cultural identity (cognitive identity, emotional identity, behavioral identity) and the mediating effect of flow experience. Using SPSS 27.0 and the bootstrapping method for analysis, the results showed that traditional cultural elements overall had a positive effect on cultural identity. However, the graphic element did not have a significant effect on behavioral identity. Flow experience demonstrated a significant mediating effect in the paths where sound and character elements influenced cognitive and emotional identity, while graphics showed a mediating effect only on emotional identity. Therefore, this study provided practical game design directions for game designers utilizing traditional cultural elements and simultaneously confirmed the possibility of fostering traditional cultural identity through digital media.

In an effort to explore the educational impact of creative physical activity instruction on students with no prior dance experience, this research examines a course designed to foster holistic growth through movement-based, collaborative tasks. The curriculum emphasized creative choreography using fundamental physical actions―such as rolling, jumping, bouncing, and directional changes―developed in small teams. Pedagogical strategies included sensory awareness through body scan practices, reflective writing via self-narration, and a redesign process shaped by learner feedback. The findings suggest that participants experienced multidimensional development, including enhanced bodily awareness, increased emotional expressiveness, and improved social interaction skills. Particularly notable was the collaborative restructuring of the course content, which empowered students to take ownership of their learning and actively shape the instructional flow. These outcomes highlight the importance of allocating sufficient time for group-based choreography and structured dialogue, while encouraging instructors to provide a flexible yet supportive framework. Ultimately, this study positions creative physical activity courses as viable holistic educational models that integrate sensory, emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of learning, offering practical insights for future pedagogical application and theoretical expansion.

This study aims to examine the micro-level impact of dance performance planning quality on team communication and internal performance, shifting away from the traditionally macro-oriented focus on organizational issues in the field of arts management. A survey was conducted with 223 members of professional dance companies in South Korea. The results revealed that all sub-factors of planning quality―strategic clarity, resource coordination, and monitoring & feedback―had a statistically significant and positive influence on both team communication and internal performance. Among them, resource coordination, which refers to the efficient allocation of limited resources, emerged as the most powerful predictor for both dependent variables. Furthermore, the quality of team communication was also found to be a critical determinant directly enhancing internal performance outcomes. By applying project management theory to the field of dance, this study provides empirical evidence that systematic planning and communication function as essential managerial mechanisms underpinning artistic success. The findings offer both theoretical implications and practical insights for improving the operational efficiency of dance organizations and establishing a sustainable creative environment in the performing arts sector.

The purpose of this study was to examine the career transition processes of university graduates who majored in Korean dance and to understand the meanings embedded in their dance experiences. For this purpose, narrative inquiry, one of the qualitative research methods, was applied, and Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five participants. To ensure the trustworthiness and ethical integrity of the study, researcher reflection, participant validation, expert consultation, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval were employed. The findings and discussion were organized around research texts derived from the participants’ narratives. Four themes were explored: (1) growing as a dancer, (2) desocialization from dance, (3) navigating the career transition process, and (4) interpreting the meanings of dance experiences. These themes were reanalyzed and discussed within the three-dimensional framework of narrative inquiry. This study was significant in that it provided an understanding of the career transition processes of Korean dance majors, shed light on their experiences and the realities of university dance programs, and offered foundational data for the improvement and development of educational and career support systems for dance students.

This study explores the practice of free sexual expression experienced by dancers and the meaning contained in the process. Eleven dancers were selected as participants in the study, and in-depth interviews, participation observations, documents, and video data were collected, focusing on sexual expression in dance, conflict due to social taboos, and strategies to overcome social taboos. This process resulted in 'Experience of realizing sexual expression in dance', 'Challenges beyond social taboos in dance', and 'establishment of autonomy of sexual expression'. Dancers tried to realize free sexual expression through the works of dancers, but they suppressed artistry due to tensions and conflicts caused by social taboos, but later experienced healing emotions, freedom of art expression, and liberation as challenges beyond social taboos. Dancers tried to establish autonomy that was not bound by social taboos, express sexual expressions through works on stage, communicate and interact with audiences, challenge art to constant sexual expression, and avoid being criticized by pornography.

The purpose of this study was to examine how dance class experience affects self-esteem through the mediating effects of creativity and social competence. Furthermore, the study aimed to provide empirical evidence for the psychological and social effects of dance education by analyzing whether demograpic characteristics such as gender, age, and dance experience lead to differences in key variable. To achieve this, new reserch models and hypotheses were established, and a survey was conducted with adolescents and young adults who had participated in dance classes for a certain period. The survey was adiministered over a two weeks period from July 1 to 15, 2025, with data from 100 participants used for analysis. According to the purpose of this study, Data were processed using the SPSS program and AMOS program, and descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, structural model path analysis, and mediation effect analysis were performed through analysis, and the following conclusions were derived. First, dance class experience was found to affect creativity. Second, dance class experience was found to affect social ability. Third, creativity and social ability were found to affect self-esteem. Finally, the implications of the main results and the significance and limitations of the study were discussed.

This study examines the methodological characteristics and educational significance of Kim Young-hee’s Basics of Breathing as a movement training method within arts education, interpreted through the framework of Body-Mind Centering (BMC), a somatic approach. Although Korean dance has long articulated its aesthetic ethos through maetgo-puneun hoheup (“binding-and-releasing” breathing), few studies have formalized this principle as an operational movement methodology. Kim’s text articulates a sensory-based training that extends breathing practices to the whole body via what she terms the “abyss” (深淵)―a contemplative phase oriented toward contacting deep interoceptive layers. From a BMC perspective, breathing is conceptualized as a trainable capacity, operationalized through “internal respiration” and neuromuscular (sensorimotor) plasticity that enable disciplined modulation of alignment, tone, and phrasing. Using a comparative literature analysis of Basics of Breathing and BMC, this study interprets Kim’s procedures through BMC’s notion of “cellular breathing.” The analysis identifies convergences between the two frameworks―sensory-based alignment, reflective self-awareness, and generative movement composition―thereby positioning Basics of Breathing as a paradigm for Korean dance-specific movement training within arts education.

This study was conducted to explore the educational impact of a physical expression class designed according to a problem-based learning (PBL) approach on pre-service physical education teachers. Thirty-eight participants enrolled in a teacher education program at a Korean university engaged in a class where they experienced the full cycle of planning, implementing, and reflecting on lessons. At the end of the course, open-ended written responses were collected and analyzed using a general inductive approach. The findings revealed several key aspects of professional growth. First, participants developed a sense of teacher identity by taking ownership of the entire instructional process. Second, they shifted from passively accepting textbooks to actively analyzing and reconstructing them with educational intent. Third, they enhanced their capacity for creative lesson planning by integrating digital tools not merely as technologies but as means for educational expression. Fourth, they demonstrated an increased sensitivity to learners’ perspectives, aiming to design engaging and immersive activities. Lastly, they became aware of structural constraints in school settings, such as time, space, and institutional factors, which shaped their understanding of lesson feasibility. These results suggest that a PBL approach to physical expression classes can foster multiple dimensions of teacher competence, including autonomy, curriculum interpretation, digital literacy, learner-centered design, and practical awareness of the teaching context.

This study explores the evolution of Taekwondo demonstrations from practical martial techniques to hybrid cultural performances encompassing performing arts and digital media. Tracing the historical trajectory from traditional military displays in the late Joseon Dynasty through institutionalization under state-led nationalism in the 20th century, the research examines how Taekwondo demonstrations have been recontextualized in the 21st-century digital media environment. In particular, the 1988 Seoul Olympics served as a critical turning point, transforming Taekwondo demonstrations into a symbolic vehicle for national identity and a globally recognized performance art. Utilizing qualitative document analysis, this study investigates the historical origins, typological diversification, and convergence with media technologies, analyzing their implications for the cultural identity and symbolic meaning of Taekwondo demonstrations. Findings indicate that Taekwondo demonstrations have emerged as hybrid cultural practices that integrate tradition, aesthetics, technique, and narrative. Furthermore, they hold considerable potential as global cultural content across various domains including performing arts, education, cultural industry, and diplomacy. At the same time, the study highlights the need for critical reflection on issues such as the dilution of martial philosophy, tensions between popular appeal and artistic integrity, and the risks of excessive commercialization.

This study aimed to develop a field-customized psychological counseling program based on solution-focused brief therapy to overcome yips phenomenon frequently occurring in golf settings. Yips was a serious performance disorder characterized by sudden and uncontrollable trembling, rigidity, or movement freezing during putting or approach shots, causing decreased athletic performance and loss of self-efficacy among golfers. By applying the strength-based philosophy of solution-focused brief therapy to golf settings, this study sought practical solutions utilizing players' successful experiences and inherent resources rather than analyzing problem causes. De Shazer and Berg's (1997) five-stage procedure was reconstructed to suit golf field specificity, and an 8-session program was designed through collaborative consultation with active PGA professionals, teaching professionals, and golf psychological counselors. Each session is structured for 60-80 minutes and developed for direct application in golf courses and practice ranges. The program's core involves applying solution-focused counseling's key techniques specialized for golf situations: miracle questions ("What would be the first thing different in tomorrow's round if yips disappeared?"), exception questions ("When was the recent moment you putted comfortably without yips?"), and scaling questions (putting confidence 0-10 points). Particularly, it develops customized pre-shot routines based on individual players' successful experiences and builds practical coping strategies immediately applicable in the field through intentional recreation of exceptional situations without yips symptoms. This program presents a field-centered solution-focused counseling model helping golfers suffering from yips overcome psychological challenges and recover stable performance in competitive settings. As a practical intervention supporting self-efficacy recovery and continuous performance improvement within golf culture, future empirical validation and expansion to various sports settings are anticipated.

This study aimed to verify the effects of a non-face-to-face real-time online Pilates exercise program on Walking ability and mood state in individuals with visual impairments, as a strategy to address reduced physical activity and psychological isolation during pandemic situations such as COVID-19. A total of 24 adults with severe visual impairments, recruited from the S City Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired, participated in the study. They were divided into a face-to-face group (n=12) and a non-face-to-face group (n=12). The intervention was conducted twice a week for 8 weeks, with each session lasting 80 minutes. Gait ability was measured using the TUG test and the BBS, while mood state was assessed using the POMS. The results showed that the non-face-to-face group exhibited statistically significant improvements in both TUG and POMS scores (p<.05), indicating positive changes in functional mobility and emotional stability. In contrast, no statistically significant changes were observed in the face-to-face group across all variables. These findings suggest that non-face-to-face programs can effectively promote both physical and psychological health in individuals with visual impairments, even in situations where face-to-face interaction is restricted, such as during infectious disease outbreaks. This study highlights the need to develop customized non-face-to-face exercise programs for various types of disabilities and suggests their potential as an effective strategy for reducing health disparities and supporting inclusive exercise policies in the post-COVID era.

This study explores the career development of non-squad Taekwondo majors within the dual-track structure of university sports education, where elite squad members receive structured support while non-squad students navigate their futures independently. Drawing on in-depth interviews with 12 non-squad students, the research identifies three key themes: the development of career direction, the lived experiences and positionality of being outside the elite system, and the transition from internal reflection to proactive career engagement. Participants reported psychological insecurity due to structural marginalization, including limited networks, feelings of comparison, and uncertainty. Nevertheless, the autonomy outside hierarchical constraints allowed for diverse experiences and critical self-reflection, fostering a sense of agency in shaping career paths. These findings illuminate how hierarchical systems in sports departments influence identity formation and career trajectories, particularly among marginalized groups. This paper aims to analyze the relationship between team identification and fans’ spectator motivation and sports consumption behavior in the Chinese Football Super League, and to provide empirical data for the organization, management, and marketing strategies of the Chinese Football Super League. The research subjects were the fan association members of Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Shenhua, Shenzhen Xinfengcheng, Wuhan Sanzhen, and Shandong Taishan Football Clubs who participated in the regular season of the ‘Chinese Football Super League 2025’, and a questionnaire was conducted using convenience sampling. The research results show that, First, it was confirmed that team identification had a positive effect on fans' spectator motivation (psychological spectator motivation, social spectator motivation) in the Chinese Football Super League. Second, it was confirmed that team identification had a positive effect on fans' sports consumption behavior (spectator sports consumption behavior, physical sports consumption behavior, and participatory sports consumption behavior) in some Chinese Football Super Leagues. Third, it was confirmed that the spectator motivation of fans in the Chinese Football Super League had a positive effect on sports consumption behavior. Therefore, Chinese Super League clubs can improve fans' team identification by utilizing methods such as 'cultivating star players' to enhance team competitiveness and establishing customized marketing strategies targeting fans of various ages. This will ultimately have a positive effect on strengthening fans' spectator motivation and promoting sports consumption behavior.

This study examines past and present policies and infrastructure related to recreational sports and collects objective data on future socio-environmental changes to predict the developmental directions of recreational sports. A literature review was employed to organize and analyze relevant materials, and the following conclusions were drawn. From the perspective of industrial change, the spread of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digitalization are expected to accelerate the indoorization, technologization, and data-driven transformation of recreational sports, as well as their convergence with the health and medical industries. The application of advanced technologies such as AI, big data, IoT, and VR/AR will enable personalized exercise programs, smart fitness centers, and home-training systems, thereby creating new industrial and cultural values in connection with sports tourism. In terms of demographic changes, population aging and the increase in single-person households are anticipated to expand participation in elderly care sports, customized health programs, and both individual and interpersonal activities. Conversely, declining youth populations are expected to foster the sophistication and differentiation of youth sports, with a greater emphasis on screen-based indoor sports. Regarding environmental changes, climate change and rising environmental awareness will likely promote the operation of facilities based on green energy, the production of recycled and eco-friendly sports equipment, and the expansion of indoor sporting environments. From a social network perspective, the advancement of SNS and digital media is expected to strengthen community-based sports clubs, disseminate online exercise programs, and expand the distribution of sporting goods. In conclusion, the future of recreational sports will be shaped by the convergent impacts of industrial innovation, demographic transitions, environmental sustainability, and digital network-based health promotion.

This study aims to examine the issue of animal abuse in dressage competitions from philosophical, ethical, and institutional perspectives, and to propose institutional improvements by comparing domestic and international policies and practices. Using a qualitative exploratory research design, this study categorizes structural patterns of abuse―such as rollkur, physiological stress, and commodification of horses―within the context of equestrian sports. It further analyzes the limitations of Korea’s current legal frameworks, including the Animal Protection Act and the Horse Industry Promotion Act. Drawing upon the theoretical frameworks of Peter Singer’s utilitarian animal liberation theory, Tom Regan’s rights-based approach, and Clare Palmer’s ethics of care, the study explores the philosophical justification of equine rights in equestrian sports. The findings reveal that institutional and systemic neglect of animal suffering persists in dressage competitions. Compared to advanced international cases, such as those in Australia and Northern Europe, Korea lacks adequate ethical standards, institutional governance, and public awareness. The study concludes by proposing multi-layered policy measures, including the establishment of a dedicated agency for animal welfare in sports, legislative reform, and ethics education, to build a more ethical and sustainable equestrian culture.
